Last night, the Bexley Community Safety Partnership, together with Bexley Police and Welling Dialogue Society, hosted a lively and thought-provoking Hate Crime Forum at the Learning & Enterprise College Bexley. 💬
We were joined by Dr Bitmez, Dr Elsheikh, Superintendent Pressley, and the Council’s Head of Communities, who led an important discussion on strategies to prevent hate crime and how we can build trust and respect across our community. Our panellists shared deeply personal stories alongside their extensive professional experience, which made for a powerful and meaningful conversation.
Attendees contributed thoughtful questions, shared examples of both good and poor practice, and engaged in a vigorous discussion about what more we, as a partnership, can do to make Bexley even safer and more inclusive.
Councillor Bishop, Cabinet Member for Communities and Housing, closed the evening with a call for allyship, and Deputy Chair of the Interfaith Forum led us in a unifying prayer.
Thank you to everyone who attended and contributed — your voices, insights, and commitment truly made the evening impactful. 💚
